Klaus-Peter F�hnrich studied mathematics, physics and computer science at the University of Bochum and obtained his doctorate in 1989 from the University of Stuttgart for his thesis on Technology Management. He received his habilitation in 1999 for his work on Software Engineering and Management. In the year 2000 he was offered a professorship at the University of Leipzig where he built up the Chair of Business Information Systems at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. Prof F�hnrich worked from 1979 to 1981 as a scientific assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart. From 1981 to 2000 he worked on the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO), where he finally acted as director for the working groups on Information Systems, Services Science, Software Engineering and E-Business. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is a world-wide leading R&D service organization with more than 10 000 employees.
From 1984 to 1996 Prof. F�hnrich managed an ISO group of standardizations. From 1985 to 1990 he assumed the leadership of the multinational research project HUFIT (Human Factors in Information Technology). Prof. F�hnrich is a principle consultant for german and european industry, for the Commission of the European Committees and for german government agencies. He is the founder respectively co-founder of several successful spin-off companies and is active in the german entrepreneur scenery.

Prof. Dr. Ing. habil. Dipl.- Math. Klaus-Peter F�hnrich studierte an der Ruhr-Universit�t Bochum Mathematik, Physik und Informatik und promovierte 1989 an der Universit�t Stuttgart; 1999 folgte die Habilitation. Seit dem Wintersemester 2000/2001 leitet er den Lehrstuhl “Betriebliche Informationssysteme” am Institut f�r Informatik der Universit�t Leipzig. Seit 2006 ist er kooptiertes Mitglied der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakult�t der Universit�t Leipzig. Professor F�hnrich ist Autor von mehr als 300 Fachpublikationen.
Seine wesentlichen Lehr- und Forschungsgebiete sind betriebliche Informationssysteme, Softwaretechnik speziell im Bereich E-Business und die Entwicklung eines Informatik-Schwerpunktes f�r den Dienstleistungsbereich. Er ist Sprecher des Direktoriums des Zentrums f�r Informations-, Wissens- und Dienstleistungsmanagement in Leipzig, Sprecher des Leipziger Informatik-Verbundes (LIV) sowie Mitglied im Vorstand des 2006 gegr�ndeten Instituts f�r Angewandte Informatik e. V. an der Universit�t Leipzig. Er vertritt die Universit�t Leipzig im Projektrat des Verbundprojektes �Bildungsportal Sachsen� und ist Mitglied in den Studiengangaussch�ssen des Masterprogramms Medien Leipzig (MML).
Professor F�hnrich arbeitete von 1979 bis 1981 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Fraunhofer Institut f�r Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung (IPA) unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Hans-J�rgen Warnecke, dem Altpr�sidenten der Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. Von 1981 bis 2000 war er Mitarbeiter am Fraunhofer Institut f�r Arbeitswirtschaft und Organisation (IAO) unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Hans-J�rg Bullinger, dem agierenden Pr�sidenten der Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. Zuletzt war Profofessor F�hnrich dort als Institutsdirektor im Bereich Informationssysteme, Services Science, Softwaretechnik und E-Business t�tig.
Von 1984 bis 1996 leitete Professor F�hnrich eine ISO Normungsgruppe. Von 1985 bis 1990 �bernahm er die Leitung des multinationalen Forschungsvorhabens HUFIT (Human Factors in Information Technology). Er ist langj�hriger Berater und Gutachter f�r die Europ�ische Union und das Bundesministerium f�r Bildung und Forschung und war an der Gr�ndung etlicher technologieorientierter Unternehmen aktiv beteiligt.
